I’ve been back playing and the last 3 or 4 games have been tight. A draw and 2 games won by a goal, last week I noised one of the more athletic players about by time wasting in goals for literally the last minute so we won by a goal, he picked the teams this week and got his revenge, took all the runners and put me and the older lads on one team with 2 guys just back from holidays and won by 7 or 8. Takes the fun out the game when the teams aren’t balanced tbh

I’m regressing back to my youth again, so traded in my old Adidas Predators for a nice new shiny pair. Zlat

Between the new boots and my love for an outrageously designed random football top, it’s fair to say that I get the piss ripped out me most weeks. Was this understated top tonight. GodIsGod

Totally agree with you on team selection, nothing worse than a mismatched game as it just ruins it for everyone.

My nephew has started playing with us and is rapid, so we always try and put him in a team where there’s a player or two that’s a bit older or a bit slower to try and balance it as best we can.

We lost out by two tonight, should’ve won it, but we’d a couple of boys just back from holiday in our team and after I’d fucked my ankle, I wasn’t much use for tracking back.

Although we did use it to our advantage by playing it forward to me quickly and then me holding it up for our runners to score.

We usually keep the same teams if it’s been a good game and we’ve got the same ten again, until it starts to get a bit tetchy and becomes a grudge match. Laugh Then they get changed again.

Takes me a bit longer to recover from injuries these days, but since I’ve got my back sorted out by the chiropractor, I’m back to loving playing again. Can’t see me chucking it in unless I get a bad injury that means I can’t play any more, but hopefully that’s a long way off yet. jjay

Personally I’m still a fan of the classics, I saw blue predators in the adidas outlet through here but they also had copas at £84 which is about £40 off the standard RRP. I’ve got copas that are 4 year old and look like they have plenty wear left in them.
I had this number on last night

I still have a pair of Copa’s in the boot of the car, can’t bear to part with them and will still wear them from time to time, they seem as if they’ll last forever.

That’s a class top man. GodIsGod

Just love wearing something a wee bit different from the norm at fives, although turning up with a Hearts top used to see me be different, but not these days with my brother and nephew playing most weeks. Laugh

Gubbed my thigh (left thigh - I’m left footed) with literally my first kick of the ball in the warm up tonight Zlat The absolute humiliation. Ended up playing the full game (the majority of the time outfield) in obvious pain out of embarrassment. FuckMe

Why would you not just hobble about in nets? Laugh I've done that before anaw, grabbed a ball, rattled it against the boards and my thigh went instantly, spent the night hopping about in nets as I didn't want to ruin the game for the rest of them.

An injured outfield Acey is still of more value than Acey in nets.

It’s amazing the pain you’ll go through not to ruin a game of fives. I broke my wrist a couple of years ago and played on. Had to hold my hand up with my other hand for the last 20 to save it going to 4v5 Zlat

I broke my wrist in the first five minutes of an hour and a half game of 7s.

Played the full game and then drove myself one handed to the hospital Laugh

In a way it’s a blessing WOF is closing down as I’ve suffered enough on the back of an hours ball in there.

I felt bad because we had a guy on our team who had clearly come along to be The Keeper, and my gammy leg had forced him to play outfield. Monty Chuckle

We had a guy come to our 8-a-side game at lochend, his mate had text the group chat saying he was GK only so I assumed he was just out of shape or couldn’t run, turns out he is actually an ex pro who played in the 3rd tier of Spanish football Dismay

Guy was unreal, played first 30 minutes for our team and it was 5-0 so we switched him to the other team for the last 30, game was 5-5 and he eventually conceded 1 goal to finish the game 6-5 he was absolutely spitting feathers for losing a goal Laugh who the fuck keeps a clean sheet at a kickabout

The respect I have for people that are committed to being keepers and are actually good is through the roof, makes it a proper game when you've got a couple of competent net tenders.

We’ve a boy that regularly plays in nets at our game and he goes from being prime Buffon to prime Joel Pereira in seconds.

Usually he’s like Buffon when he’s not in my team and then the week that he is, he’s throwing the ball to the other team and has poppadom wrists and the ball whistles past him like he’s not there. Fat Cunt

I hate being in nets, so I’ve got a bit of respect for folk who dedicate their life to it, especially at fives.

I must admit I am a good keeper and it’s get folk pissed off when I’m in nets but I am partial to a lapse of concentration so it evens itself out.

I used to play for a team that had a goalie that had played at Stenhouisemuir. He was amazing in goals but a total psychopath . Genuinely like The Monk from Mean Machine.

He used to abandon his net when we got a corner to come up and try and score Warnock

A boy pinged a shot after the whistle had went. It hit him in the coupon and he ran out his goals and started throwing jabs at the boy Monty Chuckle

A decent return to the astro tonight considering it was played in an absolute vortex. Shooting and fitness was a shambles first half hour then suddenly after a cooldown in goal everything was coming off, no better feeling GodIsGod
