How many football teams at all levels suddenly improve out of all recognition under a different manager, despite having the same personnel? The reason for that, mostly, is man-management. The new manager motivates them.

Clare is a complete joke. But he's a joke under a joke of a manager, who has been downbeat and woebegone for many months now. The younger Levein was a superb motivator of very average players. The older Levein is the opposite. He's lost his edge completely, which translates to performances.

Even at the very highest level of all, Klopp and Pochettino got those results this week because of the incredible emotional bond they have with their players. Very little to do with tactics; a massive amount to do with passion and heart.

The last couple of Hearts games I attended I watched him for a good minute or two player cam style, as well as Olly Lee (feel embarrassed af admitting that ).

When we'd have possession there was no movement into space or offering themselves for a pass, or getting up to support the wingers or strikers. Their favourite things were placing themselves directly behind an opposition player so they would be unavailable for a pass - to the extent where if they had remained static they'd have been open to receive a pass.

Given how much Levein loves attacking players tracking back I'm stunned he lets Clare away with leaving our full backs repeatedly exposed when he's out wide.

This is why I won't hear a bad word about Mulraney, even if he has a stinker. When you're this bad, you need boys that cover lots of ground and make themselves available for the ball. Mulraney doesn't shirk his responsibilities.

Agree with this, what he lacks in self belief and confidence, he makes up for in effort and heart.

I think it's unfair to judge Clare (and anyone else tbh) until we've seen them play under a proper manager/coaching set up.

But given that won't happen, they'd all be as well moving on and letting Levein ruin the academy boys coming through.
