Framing as culture wars and doing stupid meme shit like whipping out glasses at the press conference will play well with a base that's already predisposed to read everything through the lens of culture wars. The broader public will be outraged for a bit, but it'll be totally forgotten by the 2024 general election, when stupid cunts in England will vote in a Tory majority again after the Sun convince them it's that or Stalin Starmer. This will be helped when Sunak announces something half decent in the next couple of weeks, which he should've done in March, and fucking idiot centrist pundits wank themselves into a frenzy over how statesmanlike he is.
Finding it difficult to get angry over this because it's been obviousfor ages that this government holdsthe general public in contempt. The only surprising part is that people are surprised.
