Joys of Oil & Gas industry just now and the redundancies every 3-4 months have to be careful with sick leave as they use absence as one of the scoring metrics using the Bradford factor.

Dropping a caravan on my foot last year has prevented any opportunity for taking sick leave until August unless essential

If I'm not well, I'll fire up the laptop and work from home.

I don't think self-imposed sickness counts tbh.

I didn't get sick leave in Uruguay, and I won't when I go back either. Sob And as in my first year there, I was teaching all over the city every day, this meant that when I did get sick, I had to spend 2 hours phoning around and emailing trying to organise cover in different places. My body was violently shaking by the end of that.

Also, in 2002, I'd organised to intern for the Lib Dems in Westminster during the summer. But there were all sorts of weird things wrong with me all year. On the first day, I woke up, my eyes were bloodshot, the colour hadn't so much drained from my face as was in the wrong places in my face, I felt like death warmed up, and the newsagent kiosk guy at Pinner station took one look at me and said I should see a doctor immediately.

I went in, lasted two hours tops, left, came home, and slept for a bloody month. I think it was antibiotics I'd been taking. The Lib Dems weren't too happy, to put it mildly.

Your body was just showing external symptoms for the internal shame of being tea boy for the Lib Dems IMO

Both. Get a lot of these heroic types that will go into work regardless of their health and use it as something to boast about. Hate those types. Then you get the other side of it, the hypochondriacs, where they'll take a day off for the smallest of things. I'm kind of in the middle, I don't get ill severely or often enough to really warrant days off, but when I do I'll happily phone in sick. But there's sometimes where I'll wake up, not feel 100%, like today, and could easily still go to work but decide not to. I see it like fag breaks - if you smoke you get all these breaks and if you don't you miss out. If you've got a weedy immune system you get all these days off, but if you're not, you don't. My boss is off every other week with a sore tummy so me pulling a sicky every couple of months is no biggy.

Heavy night out on Saturday Roger? That's where most of my Monday's off come from, sometimes you need the two days depending how mad you went on the Saturday.

Just a wee bit. Went out for a couple of pints. Ended up at some jakey flat party tucking into mandy until 8am. I reckon if I look back at my sick days they're about 80-90% Mondays.

Looks like the THF kind words had a great effect and that's me on the mend. Feel 100% better today so it must've just been the last couple days that were the worst of it.

Enjoy your week guys, don't push yourselves too hard.

Could not get tomorrow off as had been booked on to a course for tomorrow morning by my boss a while back.

Only a morning course though so should be home for the back of 1 ish.

The rest of the working week has nothing really that bad that stands out - just cant be chuffed. Have 4 weeks of A/L to use before the end of March - fuck knows when I'm going to be able to take it Fat Cunt

Suspect that this thread will be full of folk saying they are off tomorrow Sob
