I think the plan to give them the ball and sit in and make it difficult was a good one and I think/hope it will serve us well over the next few months.

It’s the aimless hoof up the park to absolutely no one that has me tearing my hair out. We’d get the ball and immediately launch it up the middle to somewhere where it seemed to be complete luck whether a Hearts player was there or not and then they’d get the ball and start again. We were much better with sitting in and counter attacking earlier in the season when we’d hit the channels or put it out wide for Kyzi or Braga to run on to.

It’s the tactic that Man City very successfully deployed against Arsenal in that FA cup game the other week. I suspect we will be one of many teams now doing that against Motherwell.

Motherwell still had their fair share of joy, let's not kid on it was a masterclass as we were fortunate that maswanhise misses an absolute sitter after making halkett and mcentee look silly and we get a fortunate penalty, the game could have easily went the other way yesterday.

Longelo missed a relatively straightforward volley too. There was about 15 minutes in which we lost all shape and could have conceded shree goals. I think we were very fortunate to win.

Motherwell are still a very dangerous team going forward and missed two absolute sitters to put the game beyond us.

It’s been said for weeks that we need to improve - obviously it’s the most convincing win in a while but we won’t be able to play like that at ER and take 3 points.

Halkett looks a shadow of the player he was a few months ago.

To give more credit to Del, I don’t think we let them have the ball and sit in. Yes, we didn’t press the goalie when he wanted us to, but once that phase was over, Devlin, Braga etc.. was out there winning it back.

The generous reading is that that's also what you see the OF doing - how many times have we seen them sitting at 1-1 with another team all over them, not able to take their chances, then they go up the park and take their only chance. But yes, it feels a bit hollow to say that when if Motherwell had taken even one of those three chances (one of which fell to the league's top scorer), we'd have lost the game.

After some really nervy ends to games, it did feel like there was a bit of a release yesterday, so hopefully we can take a bit of that into the coming games.

Agreed, and although some here are excited motherwell lost and want to call them shite, I’d rather look at it, that we managed to beat a really tough team. Definitely one of the hardest games we’ve played this season alongside ibrox away and this time we came through it with 3 points.

Gives me more confidence against Hibs and Falkirk that we can tuck them away.

Aye had that on when I was getting ready before work

The chat on the difference Mulligan makes to Hibs is telling too, didn’t twig at the time the game at Easter Road swung when he went off

Hopefully he doesn't make the derby but is back for huns and Celtic, if they're going to bother their arse trying against them which I'm still not sure about.

They’ll want to finish 4th to get Europe no matter what happens in the cup final

thought the interview was awful too Warnock did you get some sun in la manga, what was your favourite game this season, which one didn’t you like.

Proper opportunity to ask alternative questions from fan perspective but was dour as.

The performative swearing “fuck me” was bit cringe too, looked like Del couldn’t be arsed tbh and I don’t blame him

Having to talk to Hearts fans is a thankless endeavour, as we all know.

We've made our criticisms of Derek this season.

But every time I look at the league table. Every time I listen to him being interviewed.

I just feel he's our gaffer with such a bond with the club and the fans.

If we do this though, him and his agent wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't look at England and a huge pay increase.

It's whether he wants to stay for another 3, 4 or 5 years and see the project progress with CL football and bigger budgets. And whether JTA / Bloom think he's the man to do it, and worth increasing his pay to recognise that and fight off interest elsewhere.

A few defeats in Europe and we might be saying we need a management team with European experience.

God yeah, we're all expecting European silverware so if Del can't bring us that then his coat's on a shoogly peg in my opinion.
