Ken Clarke is one of the more decent tories.
Anyone see Anna Soubry on the Last Leg last night? ![]() ![]() Have to be careful with her though, her voting record is despicable. She isn't really what she likes to paint herself as.

Why did a working class boy from Brixton end up leading the Tory party?

(07-22-2018, 08:45 AM)Pete seeger Wrote: Why did a working class boy from Brixton end up leading the Tory party? Because he believed in genuine conservative values. Which are supposed to be about lifting people up through opportunity and conducting wars against poverty. Not holding them down and conducting wars against poor people. Of course, as Clarke mentions above, he was no leftie when in government. He was a hugely controversial, arch-Thatcherite Health Secretary. But they are so so far to the right of that now, it's incredible. Clarke really ought to have been a Lib Dem for at least the last 20 years. And Major doesn't fit in any more either.
