You'd think the free broadband policy was actually, Corby and McDonnell to come round and shite on your kitchen worktop policy. I mean how fucking dare they offer free broadband.

Johnson knew absolutely nothing about the figures on both eu and non eu immigration yesterday. Barely a peep for the media. Diane abbot gets one set of figures incorrect in 2017 and the media want her hung from the nearest lamppost.
On the question of not knowing where money is coming from, we seemed to find it really fucking easy to find 90/100 billion to bail out Tory bankers in the blink of an eye. ![]() Labour should be forecably talking about the levels of profit in the industries they are looking to nationalise and how that can be used to pay the initial outlay and the ongoing costs and not to help billionaires get richer. ![]()

Clearly the free broadband policy is an investment infrastructure policy to improve small-medium sized businesses (especially in rural areas) in order to stimulate growth in the economy.
Very standard infrastructure project that has already been rolled out in many other countries years ago. The way it's being framed as some sort of fascist, communist freebie just sums up this petty, bitter country.

The whole money tree argument has been completely blown out the water - we can afford the cost of brexit but can't afford infrastructure projects that will be of benefit to people and the wider ecomomy? Right then.

Spoke to my friend the other day about this policy to see what his perspective was - he's a smallish business owner providing broadband and IT support. He was dead against it and thought it would put a lot of people out of business. The other guy I spoke to said it was too ambitious and not necessary because everyone has broadband and it's already really cheap. Some folk just struggle to look outside conventional wisdom.
We piss money away on all sorts of shit that has no benefit to the economy. This would change people's lives in rural areas and council estates - a genuine need in today's society being provided by the government. THOSE BASTARDS.

If broadband was free i'd probably drop my telly and phone package, which would save me £600 a year. In terms of my disposable income it's not insubstantial. Or, for someone who rents, an extra £40-50 a month could mean a different bracket of accommodation.
And that's not to consider the benefits of everyone actually having broadband.

Getting anyone to care about a fragile rural economy with little high speed transport links and low technological connectivity is almost impossible. Folk can't see past the end of their nose. If you think it's hard for Scots to see it, Imagine how foreign these ideas must be to the London media who haven't ventured outside zone 3 of London.

Immigrants can only apply for settled status online.

Don't even have cable in Glasgow city centre. Can get a leased line though, for a £2k installation fee and then pay hundreds a month.
So it would actually greatly benefit SMEs tbh.

Is it Japan and South Korea that have near-universal broadband rollout? Two countries known for their love of communism and hatred of free enterprise, right enough.
Suppose if Corbyn mentioned he wanted to imitate Japan's method the Mail would probably headline with "Corbyn to make himself emperor; has dinner with Pearl Harbour Commander" ![]()

He doesn't look like a cunt there tbf. He does come across as clueless, and that would be acceptable under the circumstances (bring put on the spot) and definitely relatable to anybody giving him/her a fair go .... except he's the current UK PM and has been a public figure for a long time. It's a bit of an embarrassing moment for him tbqh.
