Sore one, sorry to hear Acey, hope you and the family are holding up alright.

At least his suffering of living with you for that long has come to an end.

Sorry to hear that, Acey.

Nothing worse than seeing them go, but I hope you were there for him in his last moments.

Thanks boys - it's been coming. Diagnosed with intestinal cancer a few weeks ago and surgery + chemo wouldn't have been fair to him, plus it wouldn't have given him much longer anyway. This past weekend he was just lying around and had clearly had enough. It's a relief it's over, in a way, and that he avoided the steep decline at the very end that we'd feared. Fuck cancer, though - always thought he'd make it to 17/18 rather than just 11.

Was a nice moment on his last evening - he was lying out on the table in the garden taking in the last sunset, and about a hundred tiny wee birds gathered in the tree in the corner of the garden to salute a worthy adversary. Sob

Have done so much ugly crying over the past month. Acey Jnr is fascinated by it. Warnock Keeps saying deliberately provocative stuff like "Daddy, are you sad now Rumpole's a star in the sky?" while looking at me like juanmayay to see if I'm going to burst into tears again. Colin

He was a pest, but the best and most loyal cat ever. Was at a loss what to do after coming out of the vet, so went to the shop to get a couple of things. Got out the car and was wiping my nose. Smelled something off. Little shit's last troll was to pee on my leg as he died, and I accidentally wiped it on my own face. Monty Chuckle

Condolences Acey. It's a member of the family.

Sounds like you done the right thing though. People (understandably) get into situations where they keep their pet living in pain for their own benefit.

Aye, you hear some horrible stories about folk who can't bring themselves to let them go, and they end up going out in obvious pain. He was purring on his last day, and went to sleep in my arms at the end.

Mad that we don't let people go out on their own terms (yet).

That’s always messed with my head, that we can let our pets go with dignity but can’t do it to other members of our family.

Genuinely glad to hear that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree with Acey Jnr learning the art of trolling before he even begins school. Warnock

Alice brought a mouse in this morning. Was a good  half an hour before I eventually caught the little fucker only to drop it off outside the house and have a seagull swoop down and pick it up  Monty Chuckle

Was driving along Mussy High St after work last week and wondered why the seagulls, and there were hunners of them, were going radge in one section swooping down, and around about screeching like banshees, then the vehicle in front of me swerves somewhat and there's the cause, a big clean seagull still twitching away. Can only think they were grieving for it, or certain seagull gangs were trying to determine who caused the unlucky one to get whacked (by a high-sided vehicle)!

Little bit of give & take, Benoit.
