Big problem for them the way they've framed this Pretti murder, their line has been around the concealed carry of his gun and the fact he had no ID (which is required in the state but is essentially a violation on the 2a i believe, it also doesn't square with the fact they wouldn't have known any of this until he was deid). Even the NRA are coming out to question it, if there's one thing you don't do its question a US citizens right to bear arms, looks like they've turned quite a fair bit of their base on themselves with this.

Suppose it'll be walked back a bit like the foreign policy stuff and then reignited again in a few weeks. Imminently after Pretti it did feel like a matter of time before someone shot at ICE in self defence.

There's another important element to the Pretti story. You're right to point out the 2A crowd will be leery about it, but there's also the fact he (Pretti) worked with veterans, the most sacred of sacred political cows in the USA. With the Renee Good killing, there was just enough ambiguity for fuckwits like Johnny to buy the excuses, but shooting a disarmed, prone man ten times in the back is impossible to defend. Smearing an inherently sympathetic individual with vile lies backfired big time with regular people.

What if the ice agents batter you for trying to stop them battering a woman, then take your gun out of its holster and then shoot you 10 times.

I did see a video earlier of that guy who got shot, a few days before acting unhinged as fuck with a gun in his back pocket kicking the brake lights off a motor those ice boys were in.

Not condoning anything but kind of shifts the 'completely normal innocent man was shot for absolutely no reason' narrative.
