He’s got a job until he retires at Falkirk. Plenty still to achieve. Make the a force in the SPL and get that stadium finished through the money earned.

Bigger jobs, I mean like Hibs or Aberdeen, but obviously both of those aren't happening, which is why i asked "where does he go from Falkirk?"

I’d like him to take a wee dark horse down south, a blackpool or oxford United or something and have them flying into a promotion playoff position.

In theory he’d be class as Scotland manager, but I agree with Shteve that he prob doesn’t have the stature or standing in the game for it.

If Scotland were properly struggling to find a manager though, I’d be intrigued if he got the top job, I’d be sceptical but I wouldn’t hate it.

I agreed with Shteve about the Scotland job, i dunno why he got all angry there.

I disagree with Scott, with the English lower league thing, one of McGlynn's main attributes is knowing and finding young Scottish players who either have potential or have been bumped by yer Rangers and Celtics.

The problem for McGlynn is if he went to a bigger club he’d get 4 bad results in a row before the fans turn on him due to him being John McGlynn. I very much doubt he’s going to take that risk when he’s highly respected at his current club.

If he found boys like calvin miller etc.. and brought them down south then that could be a wee secret weapon for him. I do think it would need to be a smaller clib where he could do his own thing. I’m thinking like Ian Holloway at Blackpool but not being a cringey wanker. Bring exciting football to an unfashionable club.

Absolutely. Including Hearts sadly.

Actually especially hearts fans. If he lost a couple of games, with our shared history with him, fans would be on him like a tonne of bricks. He’d get no time (while a fraud like Critchley got the benefit of the doubt for far too long)

I think Neilson is garbage so I’m probably not the best person to ask. I was on here calling for McGlynn to replace Neilson when he was doing his thing down the divisions.

Did Steve Clarke have the stature to command the respect of the players? Took an unfashionable team and got them to compete as the best of the rest. Sounds just like McGlynn.

Clarke had managed and finished 8th in the premier league and was assistant to Mourinho for years when Chelsea were winning everything. Working with Terry Lampard and drogba on the daily.

He kind of strolled it up here briefly with killie. Spent all his career in English top flight really.

Well he obviously is garbage, since he's done nothing since leaving us.

On mcglynn and hearts. He clearly does well building and shaping a group over a period of time. The turnover with jta would be completely antithetical to his strong points.

Mad how we can see things so different. McGlynn would be perfect for JTA in my opinion. Much more suited than Del in that specific regard

Not sure his strength is unearthing hidden gems I think in recent times.his strength has been maximising the ability of a team of lower league journeymen. There are a few boys at Falkirk who didn't make the grade at bigger clubs but that's true of almost any team in the spfl.

Yep. Incredible at being given a group of random boys and turning them into a well oiled machine. Ideal for JTA.

Not to mention he was basically Liverpool manager when they appointed Dalglish.

I'm not sure McGlynn would fancy a "big" move, especially at this point in his life. If he were 10 years younger then you'd definitely see more clubs sniffing around him. What he's done with Falkirk is superb and there's a case to be made that if Raith weren't such a basket case off the field when he was there he could have taken them up.
