Correct. They've done this to draw a stark, stark contrast between themselves and the Republicans, who don't just do nothing in the case of alleged abuse; they instantly cast aspersions on those making the allegations.

However, the Democrat approach is, in my view, wholly at odds with natural justice and the right of everyone to due process. It's both dangerous and stupid. If politicians are automatically forced out not because of proof, but because of allegations, what is there to stop dirt being flung at literally anyone by political opponents? Nothing.

Appalled as I am by the extent of the abuse and harassment that's emerged, I'm equally appalled by both the subsequent witchhunt and wholly disproportionate level of punishment. Al Franken is not Harvey Weinstein.
