I'm not sure if it's the right word, but it will be interesting to see what happens after the rapist dies.

It's very much a cult of personality, and none of the orbiters have anything like his appeal. Several have tried to co-opt his style, but none have succeeded. Vance is a creepy wee weirdo that doesn't have any real support outside of the far-right dark enlightenment types. He's more competent, but populism can't function without broad support.

They'll probably fall in line soon enough, but all this Kimmel stuff is getting some pushback from some high-profile conservatives. They're framing as being afraid of what the left might do in the future, but I think in truth, they know blatantly coming after free speech is a losing position.

There isn’t anyone I can think of that has the same appeal as him but surely so much of the groundwork he has done already and will continue to do the next 4(?) years is going to be impossible to undo in the short term.

He’s installed his little acolytes in powerful positions in so many federal institutions, there’s the MAGA Supreme Court I just don’t see this dying a death when he does. I know it was in extreme circumstances but look at the reaction to Kirk dying, can only imagine what the reaction will be like when he goes.

I also don’t see who from the dems comes up and challenges either especially in the states when you have the massive problem of a “divided left” over Israel. Not saying for a minute he should be pres but the only guy I can think of that has cut through the nonsense and had success even when the machine was turned on him was Mamdani. There is a real problem with opposition to these alternative fact parties not being able to highlight lies and make it stick with people.

The facts are there, brexit has made net migration grow it’s plain to see but somehow we all live in this fantasy land where the guy who spearheaded the movement is allowed to pretend it was fuck all to do with him and have another spin at running on an anti immigration ticket and no one can successfully cut through it.
