Celtic will probably have a cup final the following week, so if they are out of it by the final day, they'll likely rest their top players.

Regardless, the absolute nightmare scenario would be us going there only needing a point to wrap up the league. I don't think I'd even be able to watch the game in that case.

That cup final may give O Neill the cover to play the reserves. I’m now thinking to favour a Celtic semi final win to support that scenario. At this stage it’s all about the hertz league win, don’t care if they get the Scottish.

Wanting a Celtic and Dunfermline win at the weekend. No way I’d want the Falkirk players going into the OF games with a final in the back of their minds

I wouldn't worry about Falkirk in any case because they go to Celtic Park where they will lose and they host Rangers potentially going there for the league so they'll also lose that regardless.

I think the difference between second and third is europa and conference so it might not quite be a dead rubber if it came to that scenario.

Celtic definitely lay down to us at Tynecastle in 2005 when we were trying to finish second though. I remember both sets of fans singing about Rangers.

Celtic lay down to Aberdeen on the final day a few years back when it meant they’d finish second above Rangers. They would do the same for us if it comes to it but we can’t rely on them being out of it by then.

Can't rely on them, but it does look like Rangers have more firepower than them.

I can't see Celtic finishing above them.

Rangers get guaranteed champions league football if they win it. That’s 30 million in the bank immediately and could jump Celtic for the next decade.

Organisationally Celtic cannot let Rangers win the league this year.

That’s not even mentioning the fans and the green brigade booing their own players that dare to attack.

You do ken the West of Scotland right?

The Celtic heirarchy should be instructing O Neill to play the reserves and would be negligence if they don’t.

Would it make any difference to them finishing 2nd or 3rd for European spots? I have no idea if they would or not tbh I hope we have it wrapped up by then.

If we finished 2nd and Celtic finished 3rd and won the cup would they then take our European spot for finishing 2nd?

Would Celtic want Martin O’Neill’s last game to be remember as a game he lost/threw so we won a league? Would they want Martin O’Neill to be remembered as the manager that won Rangers the league?

As things stand we could be guaranteed a league title if we get a result at Celtic, or we could be relying on Rangers not to get a result also, or we could be guaranteed champions by that point, or we could be guaranteed not to be. Maybe best not to overthink it at this stage Warnock

They’d desperately have to stage manage the optics of it all.

Playing reserves to rest the first team for a cup final covers everyones arses

As long as they’ve got the final of the Scottish Cup to look forward to, the rhats won’t give a fuck about us winning the league, as long as it means Rangers don’t.

The more sensible elements of the Cheltic support realise that us winning the league will force their board into taking decisive action over the summer. They’ll need to appoint a manager that appeases their support, they then need to back him in the transfer market in order to avoid a full stage revolt of the support.

If they somehow manage to win the title, their board can turn around giving it the big “I told you so” and play out that the sacking of Bhrendan and the appointment of Nancy was all part of the plan.

They’ll then go for the cheap option and give the manager gig to Shaun Maloney and hope for the best.

Much as their support hate us, they hate Rangers even more, so having them in the last game might just work in our favour.

How do we navigate 12 days of real life before the Hibs game Fat Cunt

If we win the next two, I think we'll win the league v Falkirk at Tynecastle. It's a huge ask though. I don't even think 4 points is enough as it'll probably mean needing a result at Celtic last game.

We’d need Celtic to drop points to away to Hibs or Motherwell as well as a draw in the OF game then winning v Rangers, Motherwell and Falkirk plus draw v Hibs seals it

If Celtic don’t drop points then it will require them to win by approx 2-3 goals in the last game assuming no major changes in goal difference in between

You are probably looking at that Old Firm/Motherwell double header for them to fall out of it. Hibs will lie down. I am confident they’ll drop points though.

I’m struggling to see Rangers dropping many points now. Feels like they've had the upper hand in derbies v Celtic for years now (results notwithstanding) and they’re properly motoring at the right time.

Not convinced we beat them at Tynecastle either. Or win at Motherwell.

Still see cracks in Rangers. Scoring loads but they were so unbelievably bad that first half and the timing of the goal just seemed to completely throw Falkirk.

If they go to Parkhead or Tynecastle and play like that they will get a hammering.

We haven’t lost at home in a calendar year so definitely fancy us to do them.

I feel like the derby and rangers game take care of themselves and it’s Motherwell away I just can’t see us winning at all Laugh hopefully by that time we have done enough that a home win v Falkirk will clinch it.

Rangers are weird in that they seem to be outstanding for half of every game and shite for the other half, which leaves them depending on what they can do in that one half. They seem to either win by a margin or draw.
