Tavernier is a joke figure amongst Celtic, and by extension Hibs fans. All he'll do is gee up their fans at Tynecastle, and he's proven far more often than not to wilt under the pressure.

We need to aim for better.

Losing Beni is a blow, especially with the lack of other centre mids available.

Not got many fond memories of the other 3. Kent's finest moment was smashing some Celtic cunt's phone.

If we even dare start a midfield duo of Mags and Oisen next season after binning a prime Beni I’ll be absolutely spewing.

I don’t think it can be viewed as a blow if we are the ones releasing him.

Kent was a decent enough squad player. A level below Findlay and Halkett but he done OK. Forrest chipped in with big goals here and there but really he should have been away a couple of years ago.

We should be able to replace them with better without many problems.

True.

Not sure what the circumstances are with that. I'd hope we made some effort to keep him, but I do understand his injury record being a real issue.

We are now relying on new players hitting the ground running. I would have been all for ripping the team up last season, but it already feels like we've had the spine of the team ripped out (including Halkett's injury) before we've even sold players on. The theory that last season will be the weakest we'll be going forward is already looking well off.

I like Beni but the guy had absolutely zero goal threat which isn’t something we can afford to carry now our talisman striker has fucked off Monty Oh Well JTA will fancy they can do better.

Kent has looked pretty shaky when called upon this season but had his moments. Shouldn’t be getting a new contract.

Forrest should have been gone 2 years ago.

And forgot Neilson was even a hearts player Warnock

Not sad to see Beni go tbh. For all he’s aesthetically pleasing to watch he offers next to nothing going forward and I think his lack of pace on the turn is a big part of the reason we can’t play more of a front foot game at times. We all saw the way he was chasing shadows against Motherwell and Rangers in the split. A good player for us when we were shit but think we’ve moved past him.

Not good enough for rangers anymore so not good enough for us Jezza

We probably had one player in our squad this season who was ‘good enough’ for Rangers to want to sign and we finished above them Jezza

I'm willing to take the gamble and say we can do better in this window than everyone who has left, except Shankland.

That's not to say they didnt have aspects to their game, or that I hold them in affection or even that they could still do a job. But I'm glad of some carte blanche.

Not really following the logic here, obviously players who achieved a higher finish would be good enough for the club below them, especially that were a fair bit off us in the end Laugh

Also comparing the best striker in the league in his prime to a 34 year old who’s had a shite season probably isn’t fair. In the past we’d look at rangers deadwood but if we’re serious about building a team to go challenge them over the next few years that doesn’t involve their cast offs imo.

I don’t mind signing guys that are a bit older but as I said Tavernier will be 35 in October and hasn’t showed anything this season to prove he can still play at a good level. We’d be off our heads to consider him when we’ve got JTA at our disposal but part of me thinks Del would love him.

FWIW imo shanks, Braga, Milne, Leonard, Halkett (fit) would all get in that rangers team no bother. Kyzi probably would as well at a push.

You’re leaning into a lot of hyperbole and rhetoric here. We’ve had dugshit right backs for 20-30 years. Tavernier would do fine for a year or two at hearts.

We could prob do better, but you’re going a bit extreme now.

Shankland was the only irreplaceable player in our squad last season, I think (including Braga). None of those we're losing otherwise are that big a loss (if Beni could keep fit he'd be the biggest, as it is it's the eminently replaceable Devlin). The level of turnover is a concern and for that reason I'm glad we're targeting Scottish/Scotland-based players like McPake or Miller when they fit the model rather than going full moneyball. Hopefully guys who have now been there a year and are unlikely to go anywhere like Findlay, McEntee, or Milne can take on those leadership roles, but tbh I'm already resigned to next season being more of a 'transitional' one between the old way and the new way. Also hoping that with a full pre-season behind them, some of the more questionable JTA signings from this season can settle in and start to be bigger players for us.

I’m surprised we haven’t kept Beni for this reason tbf. Tend to agree with sarkozy that we’ve probably moved past him now but if he took a bit of a lesser role in the squad I wouldve been delighted to see him stay esp for a bit of continuity.

Maybe that was offered and he didn’t fancy it, will be interesting to see where he ends up. I always thought he’d skoosh the championship but with his injuries at this point doubt he’ll make that level.

This is where I think it's going to go wrong with Del. Might be way off it but I can't see him being happy at all with losing so many 'core' players.

Saying that, it looks like we are trying to keep Devlin which may soften the blow.

Who have we lost so far that he wanted to keep though? So far, Shankland and probably Devlin? Probably Braga when he goes but they’ll have been preparing for his exit this summer for months.
Everyone else has left because we’ve been happy to let them go.
