The threat to Denmark/Greenland feels pretty real now.
Wtf would Europe/NATO do if a member invaded another member?! I’m not one of these poppy/pro military guys but putting the boot on the neck of countries that have responded to your call in the very recent past is horrendous behaviour. There needs to be a serious chat about expelling the US military from Europe if this is how they’re carrying on.

Hoping NATO will act as a buffer towards US imperialism does not compute. NATO is US imperialism.

I feel Crotch is being purposefully obtuse surrounding discussions these days.
We desperately need Mak back

Europe’s combined economy very closely challenges America and its purchasing power is almost equal - can’t be having that. It’s in both America and Russia’s economic interests to see Europe disintegrate.

Expecting anyone who is a socialist to support NATO is wild - once upon a time even the SNP was anti-NATO, before it was captured by the establishment. The EU is long overdue militarisation. Their lack of any true power/autonomy on the world stage was exposed when the US took out the majority of Nordstream 1 and 2.

I’m not asking you to support nato or your personal opinion on nato
Not sure what you mean about you guys I’m not on any side here. NATO is Europe + Canada/America my question is how would the remaining countries act if another member invaded another? Obv it would be the end of nato as we know it at the very least but Denmark would have absolute right to invoke article 5 (you’d assume the alliance that’s left wouldn’t just disband overnight) but that isn’t exactly going to fly when it’s against America. And if we are all going to shite it when a big powerful nation attacks out of fear then it completely shatters the illusion of strength in numbers and any further European military alliance is worth fuck all because they won’t defend their territories. I do feel Europe should at the very least be preparing for what consequences it can realistically dish out if/when it happens but the main thing that jumps out to give them a bloody nose would be to expel their troops from Europe. Btw the last fucking thing I want is a war this isn’t me giving it large saying to go war America but peace/security seemed to be propped up by NATO’s ability to absolutely rek any cunt who wanted it, if America turns heel against us then suddenly you’re staring doon the barrel of a conflict against America and Russia and there’s nout you can really do about it. In this hypothetical situation you either collectively defend our borders regardless of the military mismatch or you give up the territory and set the precedent to the world powers they can actually just rock up and take whatever they want now.

Del-icious dateline='[url=tel:1767543055' Wrote: 1767543055[/url]'] I respect your opinion but framing NATO as the Europe + Canada and the states isn’t it. It’s a military treaty for the US empire project. Those who join it are signing up to US imperial interests - it’s the core purpose of NATO. (All imo). There is an ontological dissonance in saying “what will NATO do if the states attacks a NATO member” If you want me to actually be obtuse - and Im guilty of it as much as the next person - try to get in the habit of saying the US rather than America. Especially since the US just invaded another American country.

That’s fair enough, I dont know enough about it all to comment that deeply on its true motives etc.
But the countries within the alliance have enjoyed peace and safety because of their position in NATO, so what would happen to all those countries after all this time America decides to turn its sights on European countries as well? I don’t believe everyone else would just decide to go it alone so there would surely be some sort of alliance that continues without America being part of it but it leaves Europe severely weakened and facing a massive threat on its borders from Russia and potentially now from America too. I’d imagine Denmark are probably expecting if they pulled the trigger on article 5 if America invaded Greenland it would be heard but I don’t think Germany/Britain/France/Canada would answer. Am I right in saying America has massive control over our use of Trident as well? Or is that a bit of a myth? |
